Description

The Turkey Tail mushroom shows concentric colour bands on the flat cap surface than can grow 8 centimeters across. The flesh is 1 to 3 millimeters thick and has a tough leathery texture. The cap is usually a rusty brown or "gun-metal" grey with dark brown and black markings. The green colour is an algae found on older specimens. The pore surface is whitish to light brown in colour and the spore print is white to yellow.
