FREE Online Mushroom Courses and Training

Mushroom Guru no longer offers in person training. During our time as trainers over the past 12 years, we have trained over 1000 people through workshops at our facility and 120 in the skills of Advanced Fungi Cultivation. In 2022 we embarked on a project to upgrade and upscale our facility, in order to help more people by assisting them with their health and well-being. This required full commitment to our SUPER REISHI cultivation, extraction and production processes for our Ganoderma GOLD range. We continue to research MG-LZ8 (our Dual Antler Extract) as a world-class immune restoration ingredient. You can learn more about our research and findings, in the course we offer on the topic.

As a commitment to you, the mushroom crazy enthusiast looking to learn, we offer access to the information online for FREE and we will add videos and content to enhance the offering over time. We trust you will benefit from the material, as many before you have. Our offering is vastly unique in that we strive for each and every interaction with you, to be a warm and heartfelt experience.

Whilst the course is FREE, you will be required to reciprocate. This requires that you create a profile and upload a photograph of yourself, as you will become a member of our FUNGKIFRIEND cultivation community. Each member of this community will be able to take the courses we offer, ask questions and interact with the other members, and therefore each member would like to know who they are interacting with. This is a prerequisite for you to make use of our valuable resource.

Level 1: ​
Easy

​How to grow Shiitake mushrooms on logs using dowel spawn.

This beginners course will specifically teach you how to inoculate a wood substrate (log) with Shiitake, Reishi or Chicken of the Woods dowels that you have purchased. 

Level 2: Introductory

​How to grow Oyster mushrooms on straw using Hydrated Lime.

This introductory course will specifically teach you how to cold sterilise a straw only substrate and inoculate it with Oyster grain spawn that you have purchased. 

Level 3:
​Intermediate

​How to grow wood loving species on combination substrates.

This intermediate course will specifically teach you how to sterilise a combined straw & wood substrate and inoculate it with Shiitake, Reishi, Turkey Tail, Lions Mane or King Oyster  grain spawn that you have purchased. 

Level 4:
Advanced 

Advanced Fungi culturing techniques.

This advanced culturing course will specifically teach you how to make agar nutrient plates, hone skills in isolations, transfers and culturing work and learn how to prepare sorghum to make grain spawn. 

Each of the above skills will be offered in a separate course.
Each mushroom species fruits at a different fruiting temperature, which is important to know if you are new to mushroom cultivation. Please take a look at the FRUITING CHART to help you determine which species will fruit, at which temperature, before you order. The temperatures are detailed in the SHOP too, under the detail for each grain spawn species, along with other need to know information.
