Mushroom foraging in Elgin | 14/15 May 2016 & 25/26 June 2016
Enjoy an early morning coffee and a freshly baked rusk as we lead into an informative talk by Gary Goldman, aka, "The Mushroom Fundi". Gary will teach you which mushrooms are edible and which ones should be avoided. Obviously, this is the most important session of the day, as you already know...safety comes first.
We will then head out into the forest for an exciting mushroom forage! With the first mushroom found; Gary will demonstrate how to gently remove it from the delicate forest floor, how to clean it off, and how to store it in your basket for safe keeping. You will then hunt for your first mushroom, being careful not to stray too far away from the group. If you are not sure of what you have found, Gary will help you identify the mushroom before you remove it from the ground.
After the forage, there is time to chat about the mushrooms that you have found and also an opportunity to get to know each other. Wine tasting and lunch will be served, the perfect way to end a joyous mushroom forage!
The entire event is R695 per adult and R620 for children under 15. There will be many people joining us for the day and since we can only host fourty people at one time, booking is essential. Get on the list early! Book here...
